All credits are non-refundable, whether they come from a paid subscription, the Free plan, or a promotional grant, except where required by applicable law. Credits are tied to your account. Unused purchased credits expire at the end of their monthly or annual billing term and do not carry over into the next term. Daily, welcome and support grants have separate expiry rules; see [Understanding credits](/docs/billing/credits-overview). If your subscription is set to cancel, you can continue using your credits until the end of the current billing period, after which any remaining credits are forfeited. If a payment is reversed through a chargeback or dispute, credits associated with that payment will be revoked. If we determine that you have breached our Terms of Service, we reserve the right to expire your plan and forfeit any remaining credits at our discretion. ## Refund Requests Subscription and credit purchases are generally final. We normally decline refund requests based on forgetting to cancel or dissatisfaction with the product. A recent payment, little or no usage, or unused credits does not by itself make a purchase refundable. This does not remove applicable refund rights or our responsibility to correct billing mistakes. If you previously asked Julius support to cancel, support should correct charges that the request should have prevented, even if you did not receive a cancellation confirmation. Support can also refund a verified duplicate payment for the same purchase. A human teammate will check the request and payment records before confirming the correction. If you believe a refund right or billing correction applies, contact [**team@julius.ai**](mailto:team@julius.ai) or use the support widget on the website. Eligibility depends on the applicable purchase and provider; this page does not establish a universal refund window. ## Customer Responsibility Before completing checkout, it is your responsibility to carefully review the subscription you are purchasing, including the selected plan, billing interval, pricing, renewal terms, and included features. You are also responsible for managing your subscription, including canceling it before renewal if you do not wish to continue. Subscription details and billing settings can be managed through your [account settings](https://julius.ai/settings/subscription) where applicable. ## How to Contact Us For a billing correction or refund-rights question, contact [**team@julius.ai**](mailto:team@julius.ai). Share the purchase account email, charge date, receipt or order reference, and whether you paid through Julius, Apple or Google, if those details are not already in the conversation. For a charge after an earlier cancellation request, include that request or its approximate date if available. Share what you have; a missing receipt does not prevent you from asking for help. Do not send passwords or full payment-card details. ## Reservation of Rights We reserve the right to deny refund requests where permitted by law, including in cases involving misuse of the service, violations of our Terms of Service, or other circumstances indicating bad faith or abuse. ## Processing Approved Refunds Refunds are processed through the original mode of payment. If you made your purchase with a credit card, the refund will be issued to the same card. Please note that it can take up to 10 business days for the refund to appear on your statement, depending on your bank's processing times. ## Changes to Our Refund Policy Julius AI reserves the right to modify this refund policy at any time. Any changes will be posted on this page, so please check back regularly for updates. *** > [!NOTE] > > Reach out to [**team@julius.ai**](mailto:team@julius.ai) for support or to ask questions not answered in our documentation. # Resetting Your Password Source: https://julius.ai/docs/account/resetting-your-password Unable to login and need to reset your password? Julius can generate, edit, and transform images and videos directly in chat: from text prompts, from files you upload, or from animated HTML components. *** ## Overview Julius offers four media-generation capabilities inside any conversation: > **Image Generation & Editing** > > Create images from text prompts, or edit uploaded images with masks, restyling, and transformations. > **Video Generation** > > Text-to-video, image-to-video, reference-based video, plus editing and extending existing MP4 clips. > **Animated Component Videos** > > Pixel-perfect product demos and explainers rendered from HTML/CSS/GSAP code, not an AI video model. > **Audio / Text-to-Speech** > > Generate spoken narration (MP3) to pair with videos, with a choice of built-in voices. *** ## Quick Start You don't need any special syntax — just ask in plain English: > Generate an image of a sunset over a mountain lake in watercolor style > Take the photo I uploaded and remove the background > Create a 10-second video of waves crashing on a rocky shore at dusk > Animate the logo image I uploaded so it fades in and pulses > Make me a 15-second product demo video for my analytics app > [!TIP] > > Generated media is saved to your conversation's sandbox and displayed inline. You can download any file from the Files page, or reference it in follow-up requests (e.g. "now extend that video by 5 seconds"). *** ## Generating Images Text-to-image generation uses OpenAI's image model. Describe what you want — subject, style, lighting, composition, mood — and Julius handles the rest. ### Examples of what you can create * **Photorealistic scenes** - "a candid photo of a barista pouring latte art, shallow depth of field" * **Illustrations & art** - "flat vector illustration of a remote team collaborating, warm palette" * **Product mockups** - "a sleek smartwatch on a marble surface, studio lighting" * **Diagrams & graphics** - charts with custom styling, banners, thumbnails, icons * **Logos & brand assets** - "minimal geometric logo for a coffee brand called Ember" ### Follow-up edits Images are iterative. After generating one, you can refine it conversationally: > Make the lighting warmer > Remove the person in the background > Regenerate it as a JPEG in landscape ### Image Parameters You usually don't need to set these since Julius picks sensible defaults, but you can request them explicitly: | Parameter | Options | Notes | | - | - | - | | `size` | `auto`, or dimensions like `1024x1024` | Edges must be multiples of 16; max edge 3840px; aspect ratio at most 3:1; total pixels between \~0.65M and 8.3M | | `output_format` | `png` (default), `jpeg`, `webp` | Use `jpeg` for smaller files, `png` for transparency | | `quality` | `auto` (default), `low`, `medium`, `high` | `high` for final assets; `low` / `medium` for fast drafts | *** ## Editing Images You can edit images you've uploaded or images Julius generated earlier in the conversation. Supported edit types include: * **Inpainting / removal** - erase objects, people, watermarks, or text * **Restyling** - turn a photo into a painting, sketch, cartoon, 3D render, etc. * **Transformations** - change backgrounds, relight, recolor, change seasons or time of day * **Masked edits** - provide a mask image to target edits to a specific region * **Multi-image composition** - combine or reference multiple source images in one edit > [!NOTE] > > When asking for an edit, refer to the file by name (e.g. `product-photo.png`) or upload it with the + button. Julius uses the exact file from your conversation, not a URL. *** ## Generating Videos Julius can generate short AI videos from scratch. Describe the scene, camera movement, and mood: > Generate a 10-second cinematic video of fog rolling over a pine forest at sunrise ### Capabilities * **Text-to-video** - describe the scene and get a video clip * **Image-to-video** - animate a still image; the image becomes the first frame * **Reference-to-video** - provide up to 7 images as visual references for style/subjects * **Video-to-video editing** - transform an existing MP4 (restyle, modify content) while keeping its duration, resolution, and aspect ratio * **Video extension** - continue a clip from its final frame, adding 2-10 seconds ### Image-to-Video & Editing **Animating a still image** > Animate this product photo so the camera slowly orbits around it The uploaded (or previously generated) image is used as the first frame. Julius matches the output aspect ratio to your source image automatically. **Editing an existing video** > Take the clip I uploaded and make it look like it was shot on vintage film Video-to-video editing preserves the source's **duration, aspect ratio, and resolution**. Source videos must be MP4 and no larger than 200 MB. **Extending a video** > Extend that video by 5 more seconds Extension continues motion naturally from the last frame. Extensions support 2-10 seconds per request. > [!WARNING] > > Image inputs and video inputs can't be combined in a single generation. Image inputs must be PNG or JPEG, each under 20 MB (Julius can downscale oversized files for you automatically). ### Video Parameters | Parameter | Options | Notes | | - | - | - | | `duration` | 1-15 seconds | Required for extensions (2-10s); optional otherwise | | `aspect_ratio` | `16:9`, `9:16`, `1:1`, `2:3`, `3:2`, `3:4`, `4:3` | Text/image-to-video only; ignored for video inputs | | `resolution` | `480p`, `720p` | Text/image-to-video only | | Source images | 1-7 PNG/JPEG, max 20 MB each | First image = first frame; extras = visual references | | Source video | MP4, max 200 MB | For editing or extension; cannot be combined with image inputs | > [!TIP] > > For social content: use `9:16` for Reels/TikTok/Shorts, `16:9` for YouTube, and `1:1` for feed posts. Say it in your prompt, e.g. "vertical 9:16 video", and Julius sets it for you. *** ## HTML / Animated Component Videos For product demos, launch videos, explainers, title sequences, and animated UI mockups, Julius uses a different approach: instead of an AI video model, it authors the animation in HTML, CSS, and GSAP, then renders it deterministically to MP4 with headless Chromium and FFmpeg. ### When to use which | Use AI video generation for... | Use animated components for... | | - | - | | Real-world scenes, nature, people, cinematic footage, artistic motion | Product UI demos, screen recordings with callouts, kinetic typography, data visualizations, branded motion graphics | | Organic, unpredictable motion | Pixel-perfect, frame-accurate, on-brand motion | | Short clips up to 15s | Longer compositions with narration and scenes | ### How it works 1. Julius writes a narration script and generates voiceover audio (optional). 2. It builds a single self-contained HTML file with one paused, seekable GSAP timeline; scenes, transitions, and motion are all code. 3. The composition is rendered frame-by-frame in headless Chromium and encoded to MP4 with FFmpeg. 4. The same source can also be delivered as an **interactive HTML player** with the narration audio driving the timeline. Because the timeline is deterministic code, revisions are precise: *"make the headline slide in faster at 4 seconds"* is a one-line change, not a re-roll of an AI model. *** ## Audio / Text-to-Speech Julius can generate spoken narration as MP3 files to accompany videos, presentations, or standalone use: > Generate a friendly voiceover that says: "Welcome to Acme Analytics..." Available built-in voices: `alloy` (default), `ash`, `ballad`, `cedar`, `coral`, `echo`, `fable`, `marin`, `nova`, `onyx`, `sage`, `shimmer`, `verse`. Scripts up to 4,096 characters per generation. When combining narration with video, Julius inspects the audio duration and syncs scene timing to it, extending or looping visuals if the narration runs long. *** ## Prompt Guide ### Anatomy of a good image prompt `[subject] + [action/pose] + [environment] + [style/medium] + [lighting] + [camera/mood]` > "A golden retriever puppy sitting in a field of wildflowers, soft watercolor painting, warm morning light, gentle and dreamy mood." ### Anatomy of a good video prompt `[shot type] + [subject + motion] + [environment] + [camera movement] + [lighting] + [duration + aspect ratio]` > "Medium shot of a chef flipping a pancake in a rustic kitchen, slow dolly-in, warm tungsten lighting, cozy cinematic feel, 8 seconds, 16:9." ### Do's and don'ts * Be specific about motion for videos: *what moves, how fast, in what direction* * Name the style explicitly: *cinematic, anime, 3D render, film noir, flat illustration...* * Iterate in small steps; one change per follow-up gives cleaner results * Don't cram multiple unrelated subjects into one short video clip * Don't expect legible small text in AI-generated images/videos — for text-heavy visuals, use animated HTML components instead *** ## Limits & Constraints | Feature | Limits | | - | - | | Image generation | Max edge 3840px; aspect ratio max 3:1; 0.65M-8.3M total pixels; PNG/JPEG/WebP output | | Video generation | 1-15s per generation; 480p or 720p; 7 aspect ratios | | Video editing | MP4 input, max 200 MB; keeps source duration/resolution/aspect | | Video extension | 2-10s per extension, from the clip's final frame | | Image inputs for video | 1-7 images, PNG/JPEG, max 20 MB each; not combinable with video input | | TTS audio | Max 4,096 characters per generation; MP3 output; 13 voices | > [!TIP] > > Need a longer video? Chain extensions ("extend it again") or stitch multiple generated clips together. Julius can concatenate them with FFmpeg right in the sandbox. *** ## FAQ > **Can I edit an image I generated earlier in the chat?** > > Yes. Just refer to it ("the logo you made earlier" or the filename). Julius keeps generated media in the conversation sandbox and can use it as a source for future edits or video animation. > **Can I use my own images as a starting point for video?** > > Yes. Upload a PNG or JPEG with the + button and ask Julius to animate it. It becomes the first frame, and you can add up to 6 more images as style/subject references. > **Can Julius add sound to a video?** > > Yes. Julius can generate narration with TTS and mux it into the video with FFmpeg. For animated component videos, narration timing drives the whole composition. AI-generated video clips can also be combined with a narration track afterward. > **Why did my product-demo video come out as HTML instead of AI video?** > > For UI mockups, text, and branded motion, code-rendered animation is sharper and infinitely more editable than AI video. Julius picks the right tool for the job, but you can always ask for a specific approach. > **Where do my files go?** > > Everything is saved to your conversation and appears on the Files page for download. Generated HTML artifacts can be viewed inline and published. *** ## Related * [Artifacts overview](/docs/artifacts/overview) * [Interactive artifacts](/docs/artifacts/interactive-artifacts) * [AI Website Builder](/docs/create-websites) * [AI Presentation Maker](/docs/create-presentations) * [Reports](/docs/artifacts/reports) # Interactive artifacts Source: https://julius.ai/docs/artifacts/interactive-artifacts Dashboards, interactive charts, calculators, mini-apps, and other browser experiences that Julius builds for you. Julius chooses the tools it needs to build it: > Turn this analysis into a 10-slide deck for my exec team > Build and publish a landing page for this product brief > Build an interactive dashboard of these sales by region > Write up the findings as a report Julius builds the artifact as part of its normal work, runs the code behind it, and shows the result in the chat. > [!TIP] > > The clearer you are about format, audience, and length, the better the first draft. Each artifact page has prompting tips. *** ## Where to find your artifacts Artifacts show up in three places: * **Inline in the chat**, as Julius creates them. Click to expand an artifact into the side panel. * **The side panel**, where you can view the full artifact and reach its controls (publish, export, download). * **Your Library**, the home for everything you've created. Browse by type (Files, Images, Reports, Slides, and Artifacts) and reopen any one. *** ## Publishing and sharing You can turn any artifact into a public page. **1. Open the artifact** Open it inline or in the side panel and click **Publish**. **2. Publish it** Julius generates a public link and copies it to your clipboard. **Anyone with the link can view the artifact**, and they'll always see the latest version. **3. Share the link** Paste the link anywhere you want to share the artifact. Anyone with the link can view a published artifact. It isn't listed in a public directory, and you can click **Unpublish** any time to take the page down. > [!NOTE] > > Publishing shares a read-only view. Your underlying data and conversation stay private. *** ## Editing an artifact There's no separate editor. You refine an artifact the same way you created it, by asking Julius: > Make slide 3 a bar chart instead of a table > Add a filter for product category to the dashboard > Tighten the executive summary and add a recommendations section *** ## Exporting * **Presentations** can be built as HTML or delivered in formats such as PowerPoint (`.pptx`), PDF, PNG, or Google Slides. * **Websites and interactive artifacts** can be published to a shareable public link. * Other artifacts download as a file, so you can keep or share them outside Julius. *** ## Related * [AI Presentation Maker](/docs/create-presentations) * [AI Website Builder](/docs/create-websites) * [Interactive artifacts](/docs/artifacts/interactive-artifacts) * [Reports](/docs/artifacts/reports) * [Images / Videos](/docs/artifacts/images-videos) * [Tools & capabilities](/docs/get-started/tools): the tools Julius uses to build artifacts > [!NOTE] > > Have an idea for an artifact type you'd like to see documented? A **report** is a written deliverable Julius pulls together from your conversation: a long-form document with sections, findings, and recommendations. Use a report when the output is meant to be *read*, like an executive summary, a research memo, or a write-up of what your analysis found. *** ## Creating a report Run your analysis first, then ask Julius to write it up: > Write up these findings as a report for my stakeholders > Summarize this analysis into an executive report with recommendations > Create a research memo covering the methodology and the results Julius drafts the report, and you can keep refining it in the chat. *** ## Editing a report Reports are easy to revise without regenerating everything. Ask for changes section by section: > Add a methodology section after the summary > Replace the recommendations with three concrete next steps > Make the executive summary shorter and more direct *** ## Prompting tips > **Name the audience and the sections** > > Tell Julius who's reading and how to structure it: > > > For execs: an executive summary, key findings, and recommended actions > **Ask it to cite the numbers** > > Keep the report grounded in your actual results: > > > Reference the specific figures from the revenue and retention tables > **Set the length and tone** > > A one-page brief and a detailed memo are different asks: > > > Keep it to one page, confident and plain-spoken *** ## Ideas to try * **Analysis write-ups**: turn an exploration into a clear narrative * **Research memos**: methodology, results, and conclusions in one doc * **Weekly or monthly summaries**: recurring updates from fresh data * **Stakeholder updates**: findings framed for a specific audience *** ## Publishing and sharing Click **Publish** to share a report as a public link (always the latest version), or download it to send elsewhere. See [Publishing and sharing](/docs/artifacts/overview#publishing-and-sharing). *** ## Related * [Artifacts overview](/docs/artifacts/overview) * [AI Presentation Maker](/docs/create-presentations) * [AI Website Builder](/docs/create-websites) * [Interactive artifacts](/docs/artifacts/interactive-artifacts) * [Images / Videos](/docs/artifacts/images-videos) > [!TIP] > > Reports pair well with the [AI Presentation Maker](/docs/create-presentations): write the detailed report, then ask Julius to turn its key points into a presentation. # Video Tutorials Source: https://julius.ai/docs/basic-tools/how-to-hub All Julius AI training sessions, tutorials, and feature walkthroughs in one place. > [!TIP] > > Find all our Julius AI feature videos and past webinars at our Youtube channel: [https://www.youtube.com/@Julius-AI](https://www.youtube.com/@Julius-AI) For a written introduction, start with the [Julius welcome guide](/docs/get-started/welcome). The **live browser** lets Julius operate an actual web browser — opening pages, clicking buttons, filling forms, and navigating multi-step flows — instead of just summarizing search results. This is different from Julius's built-in web search, which is designed for quick lookups. The live browser is for tasks that require real interaction with a website. *** ## What Julius can do with the live browser * Open any URL * Click buttons and links * Type into forms and search fields * Apply filters and navigate dropdowns * Move through multi-step workflows * Read content that only appears after JavaScript loads or after user interaction (e.g. tabs, expandable sections) *** ## When to use it The live browser is the right tool when the task involves **using** a website, not just finding information on one. > **Navigating dashboards** > > Open an account page or portal and retrieve specific information from it. > **Filling forms and workflows** > > Search flights, filter products, move through booking flows, or complete multi-step web processes. > **Reading dynamic pages** > > Extract content that only loads after clicking, scrolling, or waiting for JavaScript to run. > **Comparing live pages** > > Visit multiple websites and compare live content side by side. *** ## How to use it Just ask in plain English. Julius will decide when the live browser is the right tool for the job. **Example prompts:** > Open this website and find the pricing page > Search this site for their refund policy > Go through the booking flow until the payment page > Compare these three products on their official websites Julius will open the browser and show you what it's doing in real time. *** ## Login, CAPTCHA, and human steps Some sites require actions Julius can't complete on your behalf: * Entering your password * Two-factor authentication * Completing a CAPTCHA * Confirming a human verification step When Julius hits one of these, it **pauses and hands control to you** so you can complete that step yourself. Once you're done, Julius picks up where it left off. > [!NOTE] > > Julius will never enter your passwords or credentials. Login steps always require your direct input. *** ## Live browser vs. web search | | Web search | Live browser | | - | - | - | | **Best for** | Quick facts and summaries | Interacting with a specific site | | **How it works** | Searches and reads public results | Opens and operates a real browser | | **Handles dynamic content** | No | Yes | | **Can fill forms or click** | No | Yes | *** ## Related * [Tools & capabilities](/docs/get-started/tools) * [Web search](/docs/get-started/tools) # Billing Cycles & Payment Methods Source: https://julius.ai/docs/billing/billing-cycles-and-payment-methods Julius AI offers flexible billing designed to support teams of all sizes. Instead of counting messages, Julius now measures usage in credits. Different tasks cost different amounts of credits depending on the compute involved. A simple message costs less than running a full analysis or executing code. This change lets us give you access to frontier AI models, larger context windows, and better compute environments without raising prices. In our testing, Julius is up to **7× more capable on complex, multi-step tasks** under the new credit system. For most users (roughly 95%), day-to-day usage feels the same — just with noticeably better results. For the full context on why we made this switch, see our [February 28th announcement](https://julius.ai/content/billing-update-messages-to-usage-credits). ## Welcome and daily credits Eligible new web accounts receive **75 one-time welcome credits**, plus **25 daily credits** on the Free plan: **100 initially available credits** before usage. Older accounts are not automatically topped up to the new welcome amount. The welcome grant has no scheduled expiry, but remaining welcome credits expire when a paid-subscription credit grant is issued. Paid accounts receive **100 daily credits**, separate from their purchased-plan credits. Daily credits reset at **00:00 UTC**, expire at the next UTC midnight, and do not accumulate. Usage draws on the daily allowance before the regular credit balance. Your local reset time depends on your timezone and daylight saving time. The welcome amounts describe web signup. For a mobile-store purchase or another signup route, contact support to verify the applicable grant. ## Purchased credits by plan These are allowances for the listed web-billed products, including legacy products. This table does not mean every plan is currently available for new purchases. Check [current pricing](https://julius.ai/pricing) and your subscription details for available options. | Plan | Monthly purchased credits | Annual upfront credits | | - | -: | -: | | **Plus** | 2,000 | 24,000 | | **Pro** | 5,000 | 60,000 | | **Max** | 25,000 | 300,000 | | **Ultra** | 70,000 | 840,000 | | **Team** | 60,000 | 720,000 | | **Business** | 60,000 | 720,000 | | **Growth 1** | 100,000 | 1,200,000 | | **Growth 2** | 200,000 | 2,400,000 | | **Growth 3** | 400,000 | 4,800,000 | | **Growth 4** | 850,000 | 10,200,000 | Team-scoped purchased credits belong to the shared team pool, not a separate allowance for every member. This table does not establish seat limits or feature entitlements. For mobile-store purchases or an unclear legacy plan, support should verify the actual product and provider. Monthly purchased credits expire at the end of their monthly billing period. Annual purchased credits are **12 times the monthly allowance**, granted upfront at purchase or renewal. They remain available across the months of that annual term and expire at the annual period end, with no rollover into the next term. Daily credits are separate. Recovery, goodwill and evaluation grants can have different expiry dates. Check the actual grant; a 30-day support-grant default is not the expiry rule for purchased credits. Contact support if expected credits are missing or a purchase delay left too little time to use them. An expiry extension or a particular adjustment is not guaranteed. ## How credits are consumed Not every action costs the same number of credits. A few things affect the cost: 1. **Action type** — a simple message costs less than running a full analysis or executing code 2. **AI model** — more capable models use more credits 3. **Complexity** — longer outputs, bigger datasets, and multi-step tasks add up faster > [!TIP] > > You can track your credit usage in real time on the [Usage page](https://julius.ai/settings/usage). ## FAQ > **How many credits does a single message cost?** > > There's no single answer — cost depends on the message complexity and which tools are invoked (e.g., web search, slides, financial APIs). A quick question will cost far less than a multi-step analysis that pulls data, runs code, and generates a deliverable. > **Does model selection affect credit usage?** > > Yes — model choice is one of the biggest drivers of credit consumption. Faster models like **Julius 1.2 Lite** and **Claude Sonnet 5.5** consume credits far more slowly than frontier models like **Julius 1.2 Max**, **Claude Opus 5.5**, **Claude Fable 5.1**, **Grok 4.7**, **GPT-6 Astra**, and **Muse Spark 1.3**. If you want to stretch your credits further on simpler tasks, pick a lighter model. > **How do I check my credit balance?** > > You can view your current balance, credit grants, and usage history at any time on the [Usage page](https://julius.ai/settings/usage). > **What happens to my existing coupons or discounts?** > > Any coupons attached to your subscription will continue to be honored under the new credit system. Your pricing and discounts carry over unchanged. > **When are credits granted?** > > Monthly subscribers get their credits when their subscription starts, and again each time their billing cycle renews. Annual subscribers receive all their credits upfront when their subscription starts or renews. Eligible new web accounts receive 75 one-time welcome credits. Free accounts also receive 25 daily credits, while paid accounts receive 100 daily credits; daily credits reset at 00:00 UTC and do not accumulate. > **Do unused credits roll over?** > > Purchased credits expire at the end of the monthly or annual billing term and do not roll over into the next term. Annual credits remain available across the months within that annual term. Daily credits expire at the next UTC midnight. Welcome and support grants have separate rules, described above. > **Can I buy more credits?** > > At the moment, purchasing additional credits or topping up your balance is not supported. > > If you need more usage right away, you may consider upgrading your plan here: [julius.ai/settings/subscription](https://julius.ai/settings/subscription) > > You can learn more about how credits work and are consumed here: [julius.ai/docs/billing/credits-overview](https://julius.ai/docs/billing/credits-overview) > **How do credits work on annual plans?** > > Annual plan subscribers receive all their credits upfront when their subscription starts or renews. For example, a Pro annual subscriber gets all 60,000 purchased credits for the year upfront. Unused annual purchased credits expire at the annual period end; they do not reset each month or roll over into the next term. > **What does this change mean for my plan?** > > For most users, nothing changes except that Julius gets a lot better. Based on our data, fewer than 5% of users will exceed their monthly credit limits under normal usage. Most will see the same or more capacity than before, paired with noticeably better results. > **Do I need to do anything?** > > No action required. Existing paid users will be automatically moved to the credit-based system before their next billing cycle. Your plan and price stay exactly the same. > **What is the credit refund policy?** > > Credits are non-refundable, whether you bought them as a top-up or received them through your subscription. Credits are forfeited at the end of your billing period if your subscription is cancelled. This applies unless otherwise required by law. For full details, see the [Refund Policy](/docs/account/refund-policy). *** > [!NOTE] > > We know moving to credits is a shift for long-time users, and our team is here to help. If you're running into any issues with your grants or have questions during the transition, reach out to [**team@julius.ai**](mailto:team@julius.ai) and we'll get you sorted. # Discounts and Evaluation Source: https://julius.ai/docs/billing/discounts-and-evaluation New discount requests, existing student discounts, grandfathered pricing, and trying Julius. ## Student and academic discounts Julius does not offer new student or academic discounts. An existing student discount should remain applied when you change an active subscription to another plan. If it disappears, contact [support](mailto:team@julius.ai) so a human teammate can verify the previous discount and help correct an unintended loss. ## Grandfathered plans If you currently have a plan or price that is no longer offered, you do not need to change plans just because the price is grandfathered. A retired price does not imply unlimited usage or old message-based billing. Voluntarily switching away from a grandfathered plan gives up its old price and old-plan discounts, except that an existing student discount should carry over during an active plan change. Review the actual plan-change details before confirming a purchase; support can help if the preview is unclear or a change fails. If your subscription has ended after cancellation and you return, you must choose a currently offered plan. The old subscription's price, coupons and discounts are not restored. Reversing a scheduled cancellation before the subscription ends continues the existing subscription and preserves its existing terms. ## Other discount requests For other requests, including a volume purchase, contact support with what you need. A human teammate can arrange review. A request does not guarantee eligibility, a particular rate or a discount code. ## Trying Julius New accounts receive free usage to evaluate Julius. This is different from a time-limited paid subscription trial: support does not offer paid-plan trials or trial extensions. Check your account for its available balance. If you need help evaluating whether Julius meets your needs, tell support what you want to accomplish. Requests for additional evaluation usage need human review; extra credits, paid features, an amount or an expiry are not guaranteed. Fin cannot grant credits or activate a paid trial. If you are asking about a charge associated with a past trial or a purchase through Apple or Google, tell support which purchase you mean so a human can check that subscription's history and provider. # Invoices and Receipts Source: https://julius.ai/docs/billing/invoices-and-receipts Instructions on how to generate invoices and receipts ## Generate an Invoice Prior to Purchasing a Subscription We have built an [invoicing tool](https://julius.ai/settings/teams?invoice=true) for you to create an invoice for your purchasing department. Describe the outcome** Name the topic, audience, purpose, approximate length, and output format. Attach any files or point Julius to analysis already completed in the conversation. **2. Build the story and slides** Julius reviews the source material, identifies the important points, and creates the narrative, layouts, charts, and visuals. **3. Review and refine** Ask for targeted changes to the structure, copy, design, data, or individual slides without starting over. **4. Present, publish, or export** Use the browser-based presentation, publish a shareable link, or export the presentation in the format that fits your workflow. *** ## How to create a presentation from Excel or other data Julius can analyze the information behind a presentation before it builds the slides. Upload a spreadsheet, PDF, report, or other source; connect live data; or use research and analysis from earlier in the conversation. Julius can then create charts from the results and place them into a clear narrative. This keeps the analysis and presentation in one workflow and makes it easier to inspect the source, verify important figures, and revise the story before sharing it. ![Several slides from one board presentation using consistent branding, charts, and data layouts](https://mintcdn.com/julius-d061c216/5H4tvoQm0vMRB0Eo/images/features/presentations/consistent-presentation-branding.webp?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=5H4tvoQm0vMRB0Eo\&q=85\&s=a1005e53ea28aa4b564f44a15070257f) > **[Turn Excel data into a presentation](https://julius.ai/home/excel-to-powerpoint)** > > Upload an Excel or CSV file, ask Julius to find the important trends, and turn the analysis into charts and a finished presentation. *** ## How to choose a presentation template Choose from presentation templates, describe a visual direction, or provide brand guidance. You can revise the entire deck or target individual slides: > Make slide 4 a bar chart instead of a table > Shorten the copy on slides 2 and 3 > Add a recommendation slide after the findings > Rework the presentation for a board audience and keep it under eight slides *** ## How to export to PowerPoint, PDF, or Google Slides Tell Julius where the presentation will be viewed or edited, and it can choose an appropriate format. The **AI Website Builder** turns a plain-language description into a working website or web app. Describe what the site is for and how it should look, then refine the copy, layout, styling, images, and interactions with follow-up requests in the same conversation. When the site is ready, publish it to a public Julius site link that you can share with anyone. Site publishing is available across all Julius plans. *** ## How to create a website with Julius Open the **Build Website** tab in the chat bar or ask Julius to build a site in any conversation: > Build a landing page for a SaaS product with a hero, features, pricing, and FAQ > Make a one-page portfolio site with a dark theme and animated project cards > Create a typing-speed web app with live WPM, accuracy, and saved high scores Julius builds the website and shows a working preview in the chat. Open it in the side panel to use it at full size, request changes, or publish it. *** ## How does the AI Website Builder work? **1. Describe your website** Explain what the site is for, who it serves, which sections it needs, and the visual style you want. Mention important interactions or mobile requirements. **2. Generate and refine** Julius builds the initial site. Ask it to rewrite copy, reorganize sections, change colors, generate visuals, add motion, or improve the experience on smaller screens. **3. Publish and share** Preview the finished site, publish it to a Julius site link, and share that link with anyone. *** ## What kinds of websites can Julius create? * **Landing pages** for product launches, campaigns, events, and waitlists * **Small business websites** for restaurants, agencies, consultants, and local services * **Portfolios and one-pagers** for designers, developers, photographers, and other professionals * **Blogs and editorial sites** with article lists, categories, author details, and signup sections * **Interactive web apps** such as calculators, quizzes, games, planners, trackers, and converters * **Data visualization sites** with dashboards, charts, filters, metrics, and visual stories * **Interactive art and experiments** using animation, canvas, and browser-based controls *** ## How to build a website from research, files, or data A website can use work from the rest of your Julius conversation. Ask Julius to research a topic before writing the page, use copy and images from attached files, or build an interactive experience around analyzed data. > Research the most valuable companies since 2000, then build an animated bar chart race with playback controls > Use the attached brand guide and product brief to build the landing page > Turn the cleaned orders table into an interactive sales dashboard with region and date filters *** ## How to edit an AI-generated website You do not need to edit code to change the result. Describe the revision you want: > Rewrite the hero for a finance audience and make the call to action more specific > Move the testimonials above pricing and add a sticky navigation bar > Use our brand blue, reduce the animation, and improve the layout on mobile > Add a calculator with inputs for price, units, and churn, then chart the projected revenue You can request a small adjustment or a completely different visual direction without starting a new project. *** ## How to publish and update a Julius website Click **Publish** to create a public Julius site link. Anyone with the link can open and use the published website. Continue refining the site in your conversation and publish the updated version when it is ready. Publishing shares the website, not the underlying conversation, source files, or private data. You can unpublish the site when you no longer want the link to work. > [!NOTE] > > Julius can publish your site to a shareable public link. Custom-domain deployment and production backend features such as authentication, databases, payments, and email may require external hosting or services. *** ## AI website prompt examples > **Name the site and audience** > > Explain the type of site, who it is for, and what visitors should do: > > > A product launch page for operations leaders, with a waitlist as the main call to action > **List the required sections** > > Give Julius a content outline so the first version has the right structure: > > > Include a hero, customer logos, three benefits, product screenshots, pricing, FAQ, and footer > **Describe the visual direction** > > Mention brand details, references, typography, color, density, and motion: > > > Airy editorial layout, warm neutrals, large photography, rounded sans-serif type, and subtle scroll animation > **Specify the interactions** > > Spell out what should respond, calculate, filter, animate, or save: > > > Add play and pause controls plus a draggable timeline for the chart animation > **Include technical requirements** > > Call out requirements that matter to the finished site: > > > Make it responsive, keyboard accessible, and fast on mobile *** ## Related resources * [Explore the Julius AI Website Builder](https://julius.ai/home/ai-website-builder): preview examples and copy prompts * [AI Presentation Maker](/docs/create-presentations) * [Interactive artifacts](/docs/artifacts/interactive-artifacts) * [Artifacts overview](/docs/artifacts/overview) * [Images & Videos](/docs/artifacts/images-videos) * [Data visualizations](/docs/get-started/data-visualizations) > [!TIP] > > A strong first prompt names the audience, required sections, visual direction, important interactions, and mobile requirements. # Custom Agents Sunset Source: https://julius.ai/docs/custom-agents-sunset Custom Agents have been sunset — here's why, and better ways to give Julius custom instructions. # Custom Agents have been sunset We're sunsetting Custom Agents from Julius. The feature wasn't quite supported or built on in a way for our team to continue maintaining it going forward. The good news: there are now better ways to give Julius custom instructions or persona-specific prompts. ## Better alternatives to Custom Agents * **Add personas or use cases to Custom Instructions** — you can describe specific personas, use cases, or preferred approaches directly in your custom instructions, so Julius applies them consistently. * **Ask Julius to create a Skill (.md file)** — prompt Julius to build a skill file containing a custom agent or persona definition, which you can then reuse across any conversation whenever you need it. > [!NOTE] > > Reach out to [**team@julius.ai**](mailto:team@julius.ai) for support or to ask questions not answered in our documentation. # BigQuery Source: https://julius.ai/docs/data-connectors/bigquery Connect Julius to your Google BigQuery data warehouse and query it cost-effectively using natural language. ## What is BigQuery? **Google BigQuery** is a fully-managed, serverless data warehouse built for fast SQL queries on large datasets. It's commonly used for analytics and business intelligence. ## Connection requirements Unlike traditional databases that use username/password authentication, BigQuery uses **Google Cloud Service Accounts** for secure API access. You'll need: 1. A Google Cloud Project with BigQuery enabled 2. A Service Account with appropriate permissions 3. A Service Account Key (JSON file) for authentication ([how to generate](https://cloud.google.com/iam/docs/creating-managing-service-account-keys#creating)) ## Providing the minimum required permissions 1. Navigate to the [Google Cloud Console IAM Roles](https://console.cloud.google.com/iam-admin/roles) 2. Create a new role with the following permissions: > [!WARNING] > > ### Minimum required permissions > > Your service account needs at least the following permissions to work with BigQuery: > > * **`bigquery.datasets.get`** — Required to access metadata about a dataset > * **`bigquery.jobs.create`** — Required to execute a BigQuery job > * **`bigquery.readsessions.create`** — Required to create a read session > * **`bigquery.readsessions.getData`** — Required to get data from a read session > * **`bigquery.tables.get`** — Required to access metadata about a table > * **`bigquery.tables.getData`** — Required to get data from a table > * **`bigquery.tables.list`** — Required to list available tables in a dataset > * **`bigquery.routines.get`** — Required to access metadata about a routine > * **`bigquery.routines.list`** — Required to list available routines in a dataset ![iam-roles](https://mintcdn.com/julius-d061c216/1sdX0_SBCoFyQQNg/images/bigquery-docs/iam-create-role.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=1sdX0_SBCoFyQQNg\&q=85\&s=d5d7e81d9520333939b1850da61937e4) 3. Assign the roles to the service account ![iam-roles](https://mintcdn.com/julius-d061c216/1sdX0_SBCoFyQQNg/images/bigquery-docs/iam-assign-role.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=1sdX0_SBCoFyQQNg\&q=85\&s=891d27492f09af43179b305646bc5a44) ### More granular permissions Currently, BigQuery does not provide a way to restrict viewing *metadata* to specific tables. However, you can restrict access to viewing the *data* within specific tables. You can split these into two roles — one for metadata access and one for data access: **Metadata role:** * **`bigquery.datasets.get`** — Required to access metadata about a dataset * **`bigquery.tables.get`** — Required to access metadata about a table * **`bigquery.tables.list`** — Required to list available tables in a dataset * **`bigquery.routines.get`** — Required to access metadata about a routine * **`bigquery.routines.list`** — Required to list available routines in a dataset **Data access role** (apply per-table): * **`bigquery.tables.getData`** — Required to get data from a table * **`bigquery.readsessions.getData`** — Required to get data from a read session See Google's [BigQuery Information Schema Tables](https://cloud.google.com/bigquery/docs/information-schema-tables) for why these permissions are needed. ## Connecting Julius to BigQuery **1. Navigate to Data Connectors** 1. Go to your [Julius Data Connectors Settings](https://julius.ai/settings/data_connectors) 2. Click **Create new Data Connector** 3. Select **BigQuery** from the available options **2. Configure connection details** You'll see a form with the following fields: > [!NOTE] > > Fields marked with an asterisk (\*) are required. **Connection Name** `string` *required* * **What it is:** A friendly name to identify this BigQuery connection * **Example:** "Production Analytics" or "Sales Data Warehouse" * **Tip:** Choose a name that helps you remember which BigQuery project/datasets this connects to **SERVICE\_ACCOUNT\_JSON** `object` *required* * **What it is:** The complete JSON content from your downloaded service account key file * **How to use:** Open the downloaded JSON file in a text editor and copy the entire contents * **Security:** Julius encrypts and securely stores these credentials > [!WARNING] > > Make sure to copy the **entire JSON content** including the opening and closing curly braces `{ }`. Missing any part will cause authentication to fail. **MFA\_TYPE** `string` * **What it is:** Multi-Factor Authentication type if your organization requires additional security * **When needed:** Only if your Google Cloud organization has additional authentication requirements * **Most users:** Can leave this blank unless specifically required by your organization's security policy **3. Test and save the connection** 1. Click **Add Connection** to test the connection 2. Julius will validate your service account credentials and access permissions 3. If successful, your connector will be saved and ready to use 4. If there's an error, check the troubleshooting section below ## Using your BigQuery connector Once your BigQuery connector is set up: 1. **Start a conversation** with Julius 2. **Ask about your data** using natural language: * "Show me sales data from the last quarter" * "What's the average order value by region?" * "Create a chart showing user growth over time" 3. Julius will automatically connect to your BigQuery project, write and execute SQL queries, handle BigQuery's specific syntax and functions, and present results as tables and charts. > [!TIP] > > Julius understands BigQuery's unique features like nested/repeated fields, array functions, and standard SQL syntax. You don't need to know BigQuery-specific SQL. ## Cost-effective querying BigQuery charges per TB of data scanned (not stored), so small prompt changes can dramatically change your bill. A few mechanics to keep in mind: * `SELECT *` on a 100M-record table scans every column * Unfiltered queries scan entire tables regardless of result size * Partitioned tables let BigQuery skip irrelevant data chunks * Clustered tables organize data for faster retrieval within partitions * Identical queries reuse previous cached results ### Prompt for cost-effective queries **1. Always include time boundaries.** Tables can contain years of data. Without time limits, Julius might scan everything. > [!CAUTION] > > "What are our sales trends?" > [!TIP] > > "Show me daily sales trends for the past 3 months" **2. Be specific about what you need.** Vague requests lead to broader data pulls. > [!CAUTION] > > "Analyze our customer data" > [!TIP] > > "Show me customer purchase frequency and average order value for active customers in Q4" **3. Use smart sampling for exploration.** When exploring patterns, perfect precision often isn't necessary. > [!CAUTION] > > "What patterns do you see in user behavior?" > [!TIP] > > "Analyze login patterns and session duration using a 20% sample of users from the past month" **4. Layer your analysis.** Start broad with cost-effective queries, then drill down. > [!CAUTION] > > "Give me a complete breakdown of all our metrics by every possible dimension" > [!TIP] > > "Show me our top 5 product categories by revenue this quarter, then I'll dive deeper into the most interesting one" **5. Reference existing summaries when available.** Pre-computed summary tables process orders of magnitude less data. > [!CAUTION] > > "What's our monthly revenue growth?" > [!TIP] > > "Using our monthly\_revenue\_summary table, show me growth rates for the past year" ### SQL-level example > [!CAUTION] > > **Expensive query** (might scan 3TB) > > ```sql theme={null} > SELECT * FROM sales_data > WHERE customer_id = '12345' > ``` > [!TIP] > > **Optimized query** (might scan 50GB) > > ```sql theme={null} > SELECT customer_id, order_date, total_amount > FROM sales_data > WHERE DATE(order_date) >= '2024-01-01' > AND customer_id = '12345' > ``` ### Smart prompting checklist Before submitting your query, check: * ✅ **Time range:** Did you specify when? (past month, Q4, last 90 days) * ✅ **Scope:** Are you asking for specific metrics or segments? * ✅ **Purpose:** Is this exploration (use sampling) or precision analysis? * ✅ **Building blocks:** Can you start with a summary or build on previous work? ## Troubleshooting > **Authentication failed or invalid credentials** > > * Verify you copied the complete JSON content (including `{}` braces) > * Check that the service account still exists in Google Cloud Console > * Ensure the service account key hasn't been deleted or disabled > * Confirm the JSON format is valid (no extra characters or line breaks) > **Permission denied errors** > > * Verify the service account has at minimum the `bigquery.jobs.create`, `bigquery.tables.get`, and `bigquery.tables.list` permissions > * Check that the service account has BigQuery Job User and BigQuery Data Viewer roles > * Check if datasets have additional access restrictions > * Ensure BigQuery API is enabled in your Google Cloud project > * Confirm you're using the correct Google Cloud project > **Julius can't find my tables or datasets** > > * Verify the service account has access to the specific datasets > * Check dataset regions — ensure they're in the same region or multi-region > * Confirm table names and dataset IDs are correct > * Ensure datasets aren't deleted or moved to a different project *** > [!NOTE] > > Reach out to [**team@julius.ai**](mailto:team@julius.ai) for support or to ask questions not answered in our documentation. # Data Connectors Error Log Source: https://julius.ai/docs/data-connectors/connector-errors A document of potential errors when connecting data sources to Julius, with context and suggested resolutions. > [!NOTE] > > **Please note**: If you're running into an error that isn't on this document yet, reach out to us at [team@julius.ai](mailto:team@julius.ai). *** ## Postgres Errors: | Error Message | Error Code | Root Cause | Fix | | :- | :- | :- | :- | | `Initializing connection. Include Details about your Connection** For example: * A description of the data source and its intended use * Key tables involved (e.g., use `product_catalog` for product information) * Important relationships between tables (e.g., `product_catalog.sku` = `transaction_history.product_sku`) * Notes on relevant business logic (e.g., only count revenue from completed orders) *** > [!NOTE] > > Reach out to [**team@julius.ai**](mailto:team@julius.ai) for support or to ask questions not answered in our documentation. # Filtered Schemas Source: https://julius.ai/docs/data-connectors/filtered-schemas Limit which tables and columns Julius can see from a connection so the AI only uses the most relevant data. Filtered schemas let you **control which parts of a database or warehouse are exposed to Julius**. Instead of syncing every table and column from a connection, you can choose a smaller, safer subset that the AI will use in chats and dashboards. This is especially helpful when: * You have **sensitive tables** that should never be queried by AI. * Your database has **many legacy or noisy tables** that would clutter results. * You want users using this connector to start with a **curated analytics schema** instead of the full production database. *** ## How to Set Up a Filtered Schema Follow these steps to control which tables and columns Julius uses from your data source: **1. Connect Your Data Source** First, set up your database or warehouse connection as you normally would. See the specific setup guide for your source (e.g., [Postgres](/docs/data-connectors/postgres), [MySQL](/docs/data-connectors/mysql), etc.) if you need help. **2. Go to the Filtered Schema Tab** In the connection settings, navigate to the **Filtered Schema** tab. This is available for each database or warehouse connector you've set up. **3. Select Tables and Columns to Expose** You'll see a list of tables and columns in your database. Use the checkboxes to select which ones Julius can access.\ \\ **Notes:**
  • By default (with nothing selected), **ALL** tables and columns in the schema are accessible.
  • If you check a table, only checked tables (and any checked columns in them) will be exposed to Julius.
  • You can get as granular as you like: hide whole tables or only specific columns (e.g., sensitive fields) without affecting others.
![Filtered schema configuration in Julius](https://mintcdn.com/julius-d061c216/GDw_fYQeQAKRXXNQ/images/data-connectors/filtered-schemas/filtered_schema_light.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=GDw_fYQeQAKRXXNQ\&q=85\&s=950574971bf13fb3f67ae641189a460a) > [!WARNING] > > **Important:**\ > Filtered Schemas apply to **all users** who access this connector, not just you. If you configure a filtered schema and share the data connector with your team, everyone using that connector will be limited to the tables and columns you select. > > This is especially helpful for: > > * Ensuring no one (even by accident) can query sensitive tables > > * Giving your teammates a simplified, curated view of the data > > * Maintaining consistent data access policies across your organization > > > To set different access levels for different users, create separate connectors for each permission set, each with its own filtered schema. # Google Ads Source: https://julius.ai/docs/data-connectors/google-ads Connect Julius to your Google Ads account to analyze campaign performance, research keywords, and optimize your advertising spend. ## What is Google Ads? **Google Ads** is Google's online advertising platform where businesses create ads that appear on Google Search, YouTube, and partner websites. With Julius, you can analyze your ad performance, research keywords, and optimize your spend. ## Connection requirements To connect Julius to Google Ads, you need: 1. Julius will connect to your Google Ads account, write and execute GAQL queries, process metrics (e.g., micros to currency), and present results with visualizations. > [!TIP] > > You don't need to know GAQL. Just ask Julius what you want to know and it will handle the technical details. ### What you can do **Analyze campaign performance:** * "Show me campaign performance for the last 30 days" * "Which ad groups have the highest click-through rate?" * "What's my average cost per conversion by campaign?" * "Compare this month's ad spend to last month" **Browse your advertising data:** * **Customers** — Account information, currency, timezone * **Campaigns** — Names, status, budgets, dates * **Ad Groups** — Structure, bids, targeting * **Ads** — Ad copy, performance, status * **Keywords** — Criteria, match types, bids * **Assets** — Images, headlines, and other creative assets * **Budgets** — Allocation and delivery methods **Research keywords.** Julius can fetch average monthly search volumes, competition levels, top-of-page bid estimates, average CPC, and volume trends: * "Show me search volume trends for \[keyword list]" * "What's the average CPC for these keywords?" * "Give me competition data for my target keywords" **Manage campaigns** (when write access is enabled): * Add or remove keywords from ad groups * Update keyword match types and bids * Create responsive search ads * Change ad or keyword status (enabled, paused, removed) ### Understanding currency values Google Ads reports many metrics in "micros" (1/1,000,000th of the currency unit). Julius automatically converts: * `cost_micros: 5000000` becomes `cost: 5.00` (in your account currency) * Both raw micros and converted values are available for analysis ## Best practices * **Use clear date ranges** in your questions to get relevant data (e.g., "last 30 days", "this quarter") * **Start with summary data** before drilling into specifics * **Monitor your account** after making campaign changes through Julius * **Share insights with your team** using Julius's collaboration features > [!TIP] > > Google Ads campaigns often have large datasets. Be specific in your questions. Ask "Show me my top 10 campaigns by spend last week" instead of "Show me all campaign data." ### Questions to get started * "What's my total ad spend this month compared to last month?" * "Show me my top performing keywords by conversion rate" * "Create a chart of click-through rates by campaign" * "Which campaigns have the highest cost per acquisition?" * "Show me search terms that triggered my ads this week" * "What's the average position of my ads?" * "Compare performance across different ad groups" * "Research keyword volume for \[your keywords]" ## Troubleshooting > **Can't see my Google Ads account during setup** > > * Verify you're signed in with the correct Google account > * Ensure your Google account has access to the Google Ads account > * Check that the Google Ads account is active and not suspended > * If you're using a manager account (MCC), make sure you have proper access permissions > **Permission denied errors when querying data** > > * Verify your account has permission to view the requested data > * Check if you're trying to access a specific customer ID you don't have access to > * Ensure your OAuth connection is still valid (reconnect if needed) > * Confirm the Google Ads account is active > **Julius can't find my campaigns or data** > > * Confirm your campaigns are active and not deleted > * Check that you're connected to the correct Google Ads account > * Verify your account has campaigns with data in the time period you're querying > * Try specifying a date range in your question > **Management operations aren't working** > > * Verify you have enabled **Allow Google Ads Edit Operations** in the conversation settings > * Check that your Google account has edit access to the Google Ads account > * Try reconnecting your Google Ads account if the issue persists ## Security & trust * **SOC 2 Type 2 Certified:** Julius meets strict security standards for handling sensitive data * **Secure OAuth:** Uses Google's OAuth 2.0 authentication * **Encryption:** All credentials and data are encrypted both in transit and at rest * **No data storage:** Julius doesn't permanently store your advertising data — it only queries what you request * **Access control:** Only you can access connections you create * **Token security:** Access tokens are encrypted using Google Cloud KMS > **[Learn more about security](https://julius.ai/security)** > > Visit our Security & Trust Center to learn how Julius protects your data and maintains compliance standards. *** > [!NOTE] > > Reach out to [**team@julius.ai**](mailto:team@julius.ai) for support or to ask questions not answered in our documentation. # Google Ads Write Access Source: https://julius.ai/docs/data-connectors/google-ads-write-access Learn what you can create and modify in your Google Ads account using Julius write access capabilities. ## What is Google Ads Write Access? By default, Julius has **read-only access** to your Google Ads data, which means it can analyze your campaigns but cannot make any changes to them. When you enable write access, Julius can help you make specific optimizations to your existing campaigns, such as adding keywords or creating new ads. > [!NOTE] > > Google Ads write access is designed as a **tactical optimization tool** for existing campaigns, not a full campaign management system. You cannot create campaigns or ad groups from scratch - only optimize within your existing campaign structure. ## How to Enable Write Access **1. Grant Management Permissions During Setup** When connecting your Google Ads account, ensure you grant management permissions during the OAuth flow. Read-only permissions are not sufficient for write operations. If you initially connected with view-only permissions, you'll need to disconnect and reconnect your account with management permissions. **2. Enable Edit Operations in Chat Settings** For each conversation where you want Julius to make changes: 1. Click the settings icon in your conversation 2. Navigate to the **Data Connectors** section 3. Toggle on **Allow Google Ads Edit Operations** ![Enable Google Ads Edit Operations](https://mintcdn.com/julius-d061c216/FYM8NUtCrVJzhSKO/images/data-connectors/google-ads/google-ads-enable-edit-operations.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=FYM8NUtCrVJzhSKO\&q=85\&s=6d381221b80fb356c97bdc50e5522313) > [!WARNING] > > When enabled, Julius can make changes to your live Google Ads account. Always review proposed changes carefully before approving them. ## What You CAN Do with Write Access ### Keyword Management (Full Control) Julius can fully manage keywords within your existing ad groups: **Create Keywords:** * Add new keywords to ad groups * Set keyword text (e.g., "summer shoes") * Choose match types: `EXACT`, `PHRASE`, or `BROAD` * Set initial status: `ENABLED` or `PAUSED` * Set initial CPC bids (optional) **Update Keywords:** * Change keyword status (enable/pause/remove) * Modify CPC bids * Adjust match types **Remove Keywords:** * Delete keywords from ad groups **Example requests:** * "Add the keyword 'running shoes' to my ad group with exact match" * "Pause all keywords with CTR below 2%" * "Increase bids by 20% for keywords with conversion rate above 5%" * "Remove keywords with zero impressions in the last 30 days" ### Ad Management (Responsive Search Ads) Julius can create and manage responsive search ads within your existing ad groups: **Create Responsive Search Ads:** * Add new responsive search ads to ad groups * Set multiple headlines (up to 15) * Set multiple descriptions (up to 4) * Configure display URL paths (path1, path2) * Set final URLs (landing pages) * Set initial status: `ENABLED` or `PAUSED` > [!NOTE] > > After creation, new ads must be reviewed and approved by Google before they can start serving. This review process typically takes 1-2 business days. **Update Ad Status:** * Enable or pause existing ads * **Cannot modify headlines, descriptions, or URLs after creation** **Remove Ads:** * Delete ads from ad groups > [!WARNING] > > **Important Limitation:** Responsive search ads are **immutable after creation**. If you need to change headlines, descriptions, or final URLs, you must pause or delete the existing ad and create a new one. **Example requests:** * "Create a new responsive search ad in my \[ad group name] with these headlines..." * "Pause all ads with CTR below 3%" * "Show me which ads have the lowest quality score so I can recreate them" ## What You CANNOT Do with Write Access The Google Ads connector does not support the following operations. These limitations are by design to keep the tool focused on tactical optimization within your existing campaign structure. > **Campaign & Ad Group Operations** > > * Create new campaigns > * Modify campaign settings (name, budget, status, targeting) > * Delete campaigns > * Create new ad groups > * Update ad group settings > * Change bidding strategies > **Budget Management** > > * Create or modify campaign budgets > * Set shared budgets > * Change budget allocation methods > **Advanced Ad Features** > > * Create other ad types (display ads, video ads, shopping ads, call-only ads) > * Manage ad extensions (sitelinks, callouts, structured snippets, call extensions) > * Upload images or videos > * Create or modify responsive display ads > **Targeting & Audiences** > > * Create or modify audience lists > * Update targeting criteria > * Manage remarketing lists > * Set demographic, location, or language targeting > * Add negative keywords at campaign level > * Create shared negative keyword lists > **Conversion & Account Management** > > * Create conversion actions > * Upload offline conversions > * Manage user permissions > * Modify billing settings > * Link/unlink accounts > **Advanced Settings** > > * Set ad schedules (day-parting) > * Configure ad rotation settings > * Set delivery methods > * Adjust geographic or device bid modifiers ## Use Cases for Write Access Google Ads write access is ideal for: ### 1. Keyword Optimization * Quickly add relevant keywords discovered through search term reports * Pause underperforming keywords in bulk * Adjust bids based on performance data * Remove keywords with poor quality scores ### 2. Ad Testing * Create multiple ad variations for A/B testing * Pause ads with low performance metrics * Iterate on ad copy based on performance insights ### 3. Data-Driven Adjustments * "Add negative keywords that have high spend but no conversions" * "Create new ads using the top-performing headlines from my existing ads" * "Increase bids for keywords in the top 3 positions with strong conversion rates" ### 4. Rapid Response * Quickly pause keywords or ads during budget constraints * Add new keywords to capitalize on trending topics * Enable high-performing paused ads ## Best Practices ### Always Review Before Approving Julius will show you exactly what changes it plans to make before executing them. Review these carefully, especially: * Bid changes (ensure they align with your budget) * New keywords (check for relevance and potential cost) * Ad copy (ensure it follows your brand guidelines and Google's policies) ### Start Small When first using write access: 1. Test with a single ad group or small set of keywords 2. Monitor the results closely 3. Scale up as you become comfortable with the workflow ### Maintain Campaign Structure Remember that Julius works within your existing campaign structure. Plan your campaigns and ad groups thoughtfully, as these cannot be created or restructured through Julius. ### Use for Tactical Optimization Think of write access as a tool for making **incremental improvements** to existing campaigns, not for building campaigns from scratch. Use Google Ads UI or other tools for: * Campaign setup and structure * Budget planning * Audience creation * Extension management ### Monitor Changes After Julius makes changes: * Check that new ads enter review successfully * Verify that keyword bids are within expected ranges * Monitor for any unexpected performance changes * Review Google Ads notifications for policy issues ## Security Considerations * **Permissions:** Julius only gets the permissions you explicitly grant during OAuth * **Per-Chat Control:** Edit operations must be enabled per conversation, giving you granular control * **Review Step:** You must approve each change before it's executed * **Audit Trail:** All changes are logged in your Google Ads account history * **Revocable:** You can disable write access or disconnect your account at any time > [!TIP] > > If you're concerned about accidental changes, keep write access disabled by default and only enable it in specific conversations when you need to make optimizations. *** > [!NOTE] > > Reach out to [**team@julius.ai**](mailto:team@julius.ai) for support or to ask questions not answered in our documentation. # Meta Ads Source: https://julius.ai/docs/data-connectors/meta-ads Connect Julius to your Meta (Facebook/Instagram) advertising account to analyze campaign performance across the Meta family of apps. ## What is Meta Ads? **Meta Ads** is the advertising platform that powers paid campaigns across Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and the Audience Network. With Julius connected to your Meta Ads account, you can explore campaign performance data, see what's working, and make data-driven decisions to improve ROI. Julius gives you natural language access to all your Meta advertising data. This is a read-only connection — Julius cannot create, modify, or delete your campaigns, ads, or settings through this connector. **3. Start analyzing** That's it. Your Meta Ads account is now connected. Start a conversation with Julius and ask questions about your advertising performance. ## Using your Meta Ads connector Once connected, you can explore performance at multiple levels and access detailed metrics about how your ads are performing. You don't need to know how to structure Meta Ads API queries — just ask questions naturally: > **Understanding campaign performance** > > * "What's my average cost per result by campaign objective?" > * "Show me campaigns with spend over \$1000 this month" > * "Which campaign has the best ROAS in the last 7 days?" > * "Create a chart of impressions vs reach by campaign" > **Analyzing ad creative** > > * "Show me the top performing ads by click-through rate" > * "Which ad creatives have the lowest cost per conversion?" > * "Compare engagement rates across my different ad formats" > * "What's the average frequency of my ads?" > **Budget and spend analysis** > > * "How much did I spend on Facebook vs Instagram last month?" > * "Show me daily spend trends for Q4" > * "Which ad sets are spending the most with the worst performance?" > * "What's my total spend by campaign objective this year?" > **Conversion tracking** > > * "Show me conversions by attribution window" > * "What's my cost per purchase by ad set?" > * "Compare conversion rates between desktop and mobile" > * "Which campaigns are driving the most add-to-cart events?" Julius will connect to the appropriate ad account, retrieve the relevant metrics, handle pagination to get complete datasets, format the results as tables or visualizations, and provide insights based on the data. > [!TIP] > > If you have multiple ad accounts connected, specify which one by mentioning its name in your question: "Show me campaign performance for \[account name]." ### Levels of analysis Meta Ads data is organized hierarchically (Account → Campaigns → Ad Sets → Ads). Julius can analyze your performance at any level: * **Account level** — Bird's-eye view of overall advertising performance across all campaigns. Total spend, overall ROAS, aggregate metrics. * **Campaign level** — Compare objectives and strategies. Brand awareness vs conversion campaigns, seasonal promotions. * **Ad Set level** — Targeting and placement decisions. Which audiences, demographics, or placements are performing best. * **Ad level** — Individual ad performance. Compare creative approaches, headlines, calls-to-action. ### Available metrics Julius has access to the full range of Meta Ads metrics: * **Core performance** — impressions, reach, frequency, clicks, spend * **Engagement** — likes, comments, shares, post engagement; for video ads, view durations, completion rates, and engagement at different timestamps * **Conversion** — purchases, signups, app downloads, broken down by attribution window (1-day click, 7-day click, 28-day click, etc.) * **Cost efficiency** — CPC, CPM, cost per action * **Video performance** — view counts, average watch time, completion rates ### Time-based analysis Simply specify the time period you're interested in: * "Show me daily spend for the last 30 days" * "Compare this quarter to last quarter" * Compare across different date ranges * Identify trends and seasonality * Track the impact of budget changes or creative updates * Analyze day-of-week or hour-of-day patterns ## Understanding your Meta Ads data ### Account structure and hierarchy Your Meta Ads data follows a clear hierarchy: **Account → Campaigns → Ad Sets → Ads**. * **Accounts** contain all your advertising activity for a business * **Campaigns** define your advertising objective (conversions, traffic, brand awareness) * **Ad Sets** control targeting, placement, budget, and schedule * **Ads** are the actual creative assets people see When you ask Julius to analyze performance "by campaign," you'll see aggregated results per campaign, which may contain multiple ad sets and ads. ### Multiple ad accounts If you manage advertising for multiple businesses or clients, Julius automatically connects to all ad accounts you have access to. Each appears as a separate connection, making it easy to keep analysis organized and avoid mixing data. ## Best practices **Be specific about time ranges.** Meta Ads accounts can contain years of campaign data. Instead of "Show me all my campaigns," try "Show me active campaigns from the last 30 days" or "Analyze performance for December 2024." **Start broad, then drill down.** 1. First, ask "Which campaigns spent the most last month?" 2. Identify a campaign of interest 3. Drill down with "Show me the ad sets in \[campaign name] by performance" 4. Get granular with "What ads in \[ad set name] have the highest engagement?" **Use comparisons to spot trends.** This week vs last week, current campaigns vs previous ones with similar objectives, performance before and after creative or budget changes. **Filter for actionable insights.** Target the campaigns that need attention: * "Show me campaigns with declining performance week over week" * "Which ad sets have high spend but low conversions?" * "What ads have frequency above 5?" * "Show me campaigns with ROAS below 2.0" ### Questions to get started **Quick performance snapshot:** * "Give me a summary of my ad account performance this month" * "What's my total spend and ROAS for active campaigns?" * "Show me my top 10 ads by conversions" **Identifying opportunities:** * "Which campaigns have high impressions but low clicks?" * "Show me ad sets with declining performance over the last 2 weeks" * "What's my most expensive campaign in terms of cost per result?" **Comparative analysis:** * "Compare my awareness campaigns vs conversion campaigns" * "How do my Instagram ads perform compared to Facebook?" * "Show me engagement rates across different ad formats" **Budget optimization:** * "Where am I spending the most money with the lowest return?" * "Which ad sets should I increase budget for based on performance?" * "Show me daily spend trends to identify budget pacing issues" ## Troubleshooting > **Can't see my ad accounts during setup** > > Make sure you're logged into Facebook with the account that has access to the ad accounts you want to analyze.
